Michael update...
We have been on the go this summer. Spending 3 weeks in California, camping in Glenns Ferry, Oh and my awesome cruise with my BFF to Mexico (I will blog about that later). So about little Mike, we found out several weeks ago that one of his genetic tests came back abnormal. He has what they call a "micro-duplication 2". Clear as mud? What it means is that for every couple thousand strands of DNA Michael has an extra #2 chromosome. This was baffling to the geneticist as they had never seen this presented with Michael's strange circumstances. Children with Trisomy 2 (an extra #2 in each strand of DNA) are VERY critical and usually unable to function. So the lab was very curious about if this gene had been passed from Eric or myself or if it was abnormally created when the fertilized egg was splitting. So the lab asked for us to also give blood and that they would check our DNA FREE of charge. That was the best news we had heard...FREE, especially since it was a $1,300 test! So they told us that if one of us came back positive for the extra #2 it would complicate thing a bit because that would probably mean that it would not be what has caused all of Michael's delays. So 2 weeks ago we got our results and low and behold Eric has the same thing. It was found that Eric has 8 extra #2 chromosomes per 18,000 strands of DNA. So we are actually back at the beginning in a way. We have another blood test to do next week and we see Dr. Harding in August to discuss all results and what we will be doing next. Thank you for following our Journey and for all your prayers and support.
